Scavenger hunt marks Lexington’s 150th birthday – Lexington children can get a lesion in history and learn about town landmarks through a scavenger hunt. The 150th anniversary Historical Sites Scavenger Hunt will begin Saturday at the town’s farmer’s market. The hunt has been planned to showcase some of the town’s historical sites, said Jennifer Dowden, town events and media coordinator. “It will be a great way for children to learn about the town and its history,” she said. The hunt is part of the town’s 150th birthday celebration. It is open to school age children and limited to 150 participants. Children will have until September 2 to photograph town landmarks and submit their pictures. Landmarks to be visited include the Fox House, Gibson Pond overlook, veteran’s monument, Palmetto Collegiate Institute and more. All participants will receive small prizes.
